Calculate net working time from start, end and break.

Use tool

How to use it

Calculate elapsed and net working time from start, end and break minutes. If the end time is earlier than the start, the tool treats the end as the following day.

  1. Enter start and end times.
  2. Enter total break minutes as zero or more.
  3. Select Calculate to see net worked time and total elapsed time.
Elapsed
end − start; add 24h when end is earlier
Net work
elapsed − break
Break
Zero or more minutes
Range
One shift within a 24-hour window

22:00 to 06:00 with a 60-minute break gives 7 hours worked

The end is treated as next day, so elapsed time is 8 hours. Subtracting 60 minutes leaves 7 hours.

The tool does not calculate overtime bands, night premiums or payroll rounding. Compare the result with the rules that apply to your workplace.

Overnight shifts are detected automatically

When end time is numerically earlier than start, 24 hours are added to the end before subtraction.

Break is a single total-minute input

Several breaks can be combined into one total. The tool does not track individual break start/end times.

A break longer than elapsed time is rejected

Net working time cannot be negative, so that input is treated as an error.

Equal start and end means zero elapsed time

The tool does not interpret identical times as a 24-hour shift; it treats them as no elapsed time.
