How to use it

Make pixels near a selected color transparent and save the result as a transparent PNG. You can pick the target color from the image, then tune tolerance and feathering to control the edge.

  1. Choose an image and select the background color with the color input or by clicking the preview.
  2. Adjust tolerance, then add feathering if the edge looks too hard.
  3. Inspect the result and download the PNG if the subject is still intact.

Remove a white background from a product image

Select #ffffff and begin with a low tolerance. Increase it only until the background disappears; add a little feathering if the edge looks jagged.

If the subject contains colors close to the background, a high tolerance can make those areas transparent too. White products on a white background, for example, may require a dedicated segmentation or masking tool.

Clicking the image can sample the real background color

A photographed background may be slightly gray or tinted by lighting. Sampling from the preview is often more accurate than guessing the color value.

Start tolerance low and raise it gradually

Low tolerance removes only colors close to the target. Increase it only when unwanted background pixels remain so you do not erase too much of the subject.

Feathering softens the transition

Pixels just outside the main tolerance can become partially transparent, reducing a harsh edge. Too much feathering can make the subject look blurry or haloed.

The tool separates by color, not by object meaning

It does not understand “person,” “product” or “background.” Similar foreground and background colors can be difficult to separate cleanly.

The result stays PNG

PNG preserves transparency. Converting the result to JPEG would remove transparency, so keep PNG when a transparent background is required.
