How to use it

Shuffle a member list and distribute the shuffled names across a chosen number of teams. The round-robin assignment keeps team sizes as even as possible.

  1. Enter one member per line.
  2. Set 2–20 teams and choose Animate or Instant.
  3. Select Make teams and review Team 1, Team 2 and so on.

10 people into 3 teams produces sizes 4, 3 and 3

The ten shuffled names are dealt across three teams in order, so the largest and smallest teams differ by at most one person.

Two identical name lines count as two members. The tool cannot tell whether that is an intentional same-name pair or an accidental duplicate.

The list is shuffled before assignment

The tool does not alternate through the original input order. It first randomizes the member list, then deals names to Team 1, 2, 3 and back around.

Team-size difference is at most one

Round-robin distribution prevents a large size imbalance when the member count is not evenly divisible by the team count.

Skills and attributes are not balanced

The tool only randomizes names and keeps team sizes close. It does not balance ability, department, age or other attributes.

Save a grouping once you decide to use it

Running the tool again can produce another assignment. Copy or record the accepted teams if you need to keep that exact grouping.
