How to use it

Turn a title or short phrase into a URL-friendly slug. Latin letters are lowercased, spaces and many separators become hyphens, and repeated hyphens are collapsed. Japanese text is kept rather than transliterated into Latin letters.

  1. Enter a title or short phrase.
  2. Select Create slug.
  3. Review the result and shorten or edit it if needed before using it in a URL.

Hello World! becomes hello-world

Hello World! becomes hello-world. Japanese words remain Japanese rather than automatically becoming romaji.

The tool does not decide the best SEO keyword or slug length for you. Before publishing, check that the result is meaningful, reasonably short and unlikely to need changing later.

English titles usually need little manual cleanup

Uppercase letters are normalized and common separators become hyphens, producing a conventional slug shape for many article or page titles.

Japanese is not translated or romanized

A Japanese word remains in the result. If your site convention requires ASCII-only slugs, enter an English or romanized phrase yourself.

Accented Latin letters may be simplified

Characters such as é can be normalized toward their base letter. Review brand names and proper nouns when exact spelling is important.

Punctuation-only input cannot create a useful slug

If the input contains nothing that can remain in the slug, there is no meaningful URL component to return. Add letters or numbers instead.

Changing a published slug has consequences outside this tool

When an existing URL changes, remember redirects, internal links, bookmarks and external shares. The generator only creates the text for the slug.
