Missing or blank is not automatically an error
`Continue selling when out of stock` defaults to `deny`. A missing column or blank value therefore does not by itself make the CSV invalid. Explicit values should be `deny` or `continue`.
This checker reports an absent column as a warning because per-product policy cannot be inspected from this file.
continue allows sales below zero
With `deny`, selling stops when inventory reaches zero. With `continue`, customers can still buy and inventory can display negative values.
That can be useful for preorders or made-to-order products, but an accidental continue setting can create overselling.
How to read the result
An ERROR means an unsupported value is present. A WARNING means the column is absent. Blank cells use the documented deny default and are not treated as errors.
The important distinction is between “not explicitly present” and “explicitly set to continue.”
Read it together with inventory tracking
The policy only makes sense in context of inventory tracking. If needed, also run the Shopify Inventory tracker checker.
This local checker does not evaluate location-level stock or Shopify POS behavior.
