The key limitation: lost information cannot be reconstructed from the damaged CSV
If 00123 was saved as 123, the edited CSV no longer tells you how many zeros were there. This tool can highlight warning patterns, but it cannot recover information that was already removed.
Integers longer than 15 digits deserve special attention
Excel numeric precision is a serious issue for 16+ digit identifiers. Order numbers and membership IDs are identifiers, not quantities; keeping them as text avoids accidental digit changes.
Scientific notation can be a clue that an identifier was treated as a number
A value such as 1.23457E+15 may indicate numeric interpretation. Display formatting alone does not always mean the stored value was damaged, so compare the saved CSV with the original.
A date-looking value may be valid—or it may be a code
Values like 1-2 or 2026-09-12 are flagged as date-like patterns, not declared wrong. Only your data contract can tell whether the field was supposed to be a date.
A practical example
Run the saved file before uploading a catalog or order CSV. Reviewing only the flagged rows is much faster than manually scanning every identifier and date column.
