How to use it

Encode ordinary text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to readable text. Unicode text such as Japanese and emoji can be round-tripped as well.

  1. Paste source text or a Base64 string.
  2. Choose Encode to Base64 or Decode.
  3. Round-trip the result when you need to confirm the original text is preserved.

Hello becomes SGVsbG8=

Hello becomes SGVsbG8=. Unicode text is converted to UTF-8 bytes before the Base64 step.

Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone with a Base64 decoder can recover the original content.

Unicode text such as Japanese and emoji is supported

You can encode and decode non-ASCII text without first converting it manually. A quick round-trip check is useful when copied text must remain unchanged.

Decoded output is shown as text

Use this page when the Base64 represents text. For an image, PDF or other binary file, use a file-oriented converter instead of expecting readable text here.

Malformed Base64 is rejected

Invalid alphabet characters, broken padding or a truncated payload can cause the browser decoder to fail instead of producing misleading text.

Use file-oriented tools for binary assets

This page is text-oriented. Images, PDFs and other binary files are usually better handled as files or Data URIs rather than decoded as ordinary text.

Round-trip checking is useful

Encode and immediately decode the output when you need to verify that a copied payload still reconstructs the exact original text, including Unicode characters.
